We’re only a few days away from Retreat 2024!

Schedule

We will depart Living Hope at 5:30pm Friday May 3

  • Teens must check-in first before boarding buses (Parents do not need to be present to check their student in, except in cases where medication & info needs to be transferred). We will travel via 2 school buses, roughly split between Quest and Drive.
  • Teens should eat before arriving at Living Hope (no food/drink allowed on bus and it's a 1.5+ hour drive)

Buses will be returning at roughly 3:30pm on Sunday May 5 at Living Hope. An email will be sent when we're leaving Graphite.

Packing

Please pack the following for retreat:

  • Sleeping bag/Bedding (sheets/blanket) & Pillow
  • Clothes (including clothes & footwear for outdoor sports)
  • Clothes that are okay to get very wet / dirty / muddy
  • Something to wear to the Medieval Banquet Saturday night! (This doesn't have to be fancy, just anything that could be Medieval-ish)
  • Towel(s), washcloths, toiletries, flip flops (for showers)
  • Bible, journal, pen
  • A great attitude
  • Optional items:
    • Talent show props
    • Favourite snacks and/or money for tuck shop
    • Board/card games
    • Sunglasses
    • Bathing suit (weather and safety permitting)

Lodging

We will be staying at Graphite Bible Camp (702 Graphite Rd, Maynooth, ON K0L 2S0). Guys and girls will sleep in separate buildings and as a general rule, small groups will share a room with 4-12 top and bottom beds. The number of students and leaders in each small group will determine the size of the room.

Meals and Snacks

Supper is not provided Friday night, so make sure students have eaten before drop-off. All meals are included in your registration fee. Students are welcome to bring snacks to keep in their room or may purchase snacks from the Graphite tuck shop on Saturday. No peanuts or cashews allowed. If you indicated a dietary restriction on your registration, it will be accommodated by the kitchen staff.

IMPORTANT: Device Ban

We ask that you please do NOT bring a cell phone, iPad, or other electrical devices to retreat. Because this is an amazing opportunity to make quality memories with friends and separate from the distractions of life, teens should leave their phones at home. If teens bring a device for the bus ride, they will be collected by leaders when they arrive at Graphite, and locked in a safe spot until they are returned at the end of the retreat. If you'd like to contact your teen throughout the weekend, please make arrangements with your teen's small group leader or contact Jackson at 705-930-7821.

Things to Do

Throughout the weekend, we'll have access to Graphite's great facility, including a covered cement floor hockey rink and basketball space, beach volleyball court, a lounge with 20+ couches, a gym, a bonfire pit, dorm-style housing, and delicious food. As well, we'll enjoy 4 main sessions with worship led by Jason Dunn and the Pathway Worship Team as well as speaking from Andrew Friesen and Jackson Wiltshire. There will also be reflection and small group discussions, Medieval-themed team and individual competitions, a Medieval Banquet, a talent show, board/card games, opportunities for connection with God, and great moments with friends. Our hope is that your teen returns inspired, encouraged, more connected and ultimately, pursuing a deeper relationship with God.

Team Competition

Teens will be divided into 6 Houses over the course of the weekend (Arthur, William, Lancelot, Leopold, Raynard, and Lionel). We’ll be announcing the Houses on arrival at Graphite, and we've taken into consideration pairing requests as we made the teams.

Talent Show

Teens have the opportunity to share their talents Saturday night (in group or solo/duo acts). The last several times we've done it, it's been a fun highlight of the retreat, so if your teen needs to pack something extra for the talent show, they're encouraged to do so.  We’ve got gift cards, swag and prizes on the line :)

We don't want finances to be a hurdle to having your teen (or their friend) attend retreat

We will likely have people who offer to subsidize or cover the cost of a teen's retreat expense, so please contact Jackson (jackson@pathwaylife.com or 705-930-7821) so we can put you on the list if sponsorship funding is available for your teen or their friend.
